Mr. Rocha's Class Update #1
I know that I told you my goal to return to Andress was going to be today. Unfortunately, I have been through several setbacks and my return has been postponed to February.
I have been very ill since last June. I had a series of issues in regards to a diabetic foot ulcer that lead from thing to another. I was constantly tired and my color was off. I was private in keeping my illness to just immediate family, my small faith community and several coworkers, and supervisors. I have been diagnosed with Stage 3 Colon Cancer and have already had 5 surgeries since September ( toe amputation and angioplasty on my left leg) ( Colon resection and abdominal) and last Monday to place a catheter port in my chest so that I can start chemo in the near future. I was also diagnosed with orthostatic hypotension, and a mitral valve prolapse of my heart. This is minor and can be corrected with minimally invasive surgery which will be addressed after six months of chemo. It has been one setback after another. But I am soldiering on. The journey has been arduous but I am very positive that the prognosis will be great. I have my good days and some not so good days, but the primary focus is keeping the faith and always staying positive.
I miss you all terribly and wish you didn't have to go through this situation. But I am proud of each and every one of you for doing your best under Mr. Martinez's guidance. He is a great teacher and I am proud to have him as a friend!
I have resolved to fight this horrific disease and I will be going through chemotherapy for six months. I have resolved to come back in February while I am getting treatment. It will be a trying time for all of us, but I know in heart that you will do your best to make this a great semester.
Please continue to give your courtesy and respect to Mr. Martinez. Show him what Andress Pride is all about!!!
See you soon in February!!!
